Going the Extra Mile
Both Nursery and Reception ventured out this week and visited Roundhay Park in Leeds. We travelled to Leeds on a bus. Once Nursery got there we explored the playground. We then walked round the park and explored all of the natural materials outside, the fountain and the monument.
After lunch we explored the grorgeous gardens the lead to Tropical World. Whilst in there we walked through all of the different areas, step ashore, amazon tank, the desert house, butterfly house, South American house and creature corner.
Next half term we are beginning a brand new topic ‘The Natural World’. This will bring lots of different and exciting experiences for the children.
The first week back will begin with our trip to Roundhay Park.
We will also be exploring different things in our world such as:
the jungle,
the dessert,
a farm,
and under the sea.
So watch this space…
This week we have been doing lots of amazing things all based on use ‘Being the best we can be’.
We saw Nursery transformed into a soft play area. The Teachers loved the ball pools. Mr Akhtar, Mr Nazir and Mr Roe dived in.
We have been to visit our Central Library, we were told the story ‘Whatever Next’ by a professional story teller.
We were lucky enough to have Miss Zoe in for Baby Ballet.
We were also visited by lots of different animals.
Focussing on our story we made the food from it.

We have been reading ‘The Gruffalo’.
Why not ask your child all about it.
1. Who is the Gruffalo?
2. What does the Gruffalo look like?
3. Who is the mouse?
4. Who else is in the story?
5. Do you like the story? Why?
YOU COULD ALSO read it with your children at home, check out the link under stories.
This week we have been reading the Christmas Gingerbread. The gingerbread boys and girls are very naughty and sneak around the house on Christmas Eve.
Creative: We created Christmas Stockings.
PSRN: We made repeating patterns for our very own wrapping paper.
KUW: We explored all of the different types of weather outside.
CLLD: We explored the Nativity Story and talked about pictures based on the story.
We have been exploring how important it is to be nice to the people in our class and around us.
We read the story ‘Big Bully Hippo’.

In this story the hippo was not very kind to the other animals. Then he needed there help, so he used the word please. The elephant helped him and hippo said ‘thankyou’.
We also sat for a circle time. We were given a piece of fruit. This fruit was a special gift to give to our friend next to us. We told our friend what we liked about them and shared our fruit together.
